With her large cockpit and cleverly
designed accommodation, the new Antarès 8.8 is a true cruiser designed to appeal to
anyone who loves comfort, at sea as much as in the marina. Fishing
enthusiasts can also indulge in their favourite sport thanks to the flybridge
and stainless steel rod holders in the cockpit.
The Antarès 8.8 is positioned between the Antarès 7.60
and the Series 9. Her dynamic and modern design, signed off by designer Patrick
Sarrazin, marks the revival of the Antarès range - now enjoying a worldwide
reputation - in the tradition of the Antarès 12.
Her flared V-shaped- hull gives the Antarès
8.8 excellent sea
keeping qualities and water deflection, whilst her tighter lines aft provide
exemplary stability at any speed. The hull shape has also benefited from
hydrodynamic studies carried out by Bénéteau’s Research and Development
Department, which have led to considerable improvement in thrust efficiency
(through use of semi-tunnels), thereby achieving increased range by reducing
fuel consumption.
Inside the Antarès 8.8 is distinctive for the generous
proportions of living space achieved by versatile fixtures and a good headroom
(1.90m in the wheelhouse and 1.75m in the cabin). The modular bench seats
in the saloon are practical and neatly designed to provide either a
forward-facing seat for the co-driver, or an extra berth. In the cabin,
the berth can also be converted into a bench seat. The joinery work in
cherry wood coloured Douka harmonises to perfection with the fabrics.
The heads are very well planned, with
separate WC and shower compartments.
Thanks to the wide side decks, movement
around the deck is safe and easy, whilst the teak-clad bathing platform with
built-in bathing ladder (concealed in a locker) makes access to the sea
particularly pleasant. The optional fitting arrangements of the flybridge
are chosen by the owner as: -
either a
driving position and bench seat combination incorporating a stowage locker
for those who enjoy driving in the fresh air,
or a
sunbathing platform for those who like lazing around.
As far as powering the Antarès
8.8 is concerned,
it is offered in twin-engine configuration and fitted with 2 of Volvo’s latest
high performance 160 HP D3 engines.
